56 needy students to receive support from Palmhouse Foundation. The Palmhouse Foundation finances the secondary education of deserving students and mentors them through life to also impact positively on society. This year, the Foundation interviews to identify deserving students were carried out around the country on 23 and 26 January 2010. The Trustees of the Foundation met on Wednesday 27 January 2010 to review and approve the final list of 56 students who will benefit from the Foundation through sponsorship and mentoring. This number is a drop in the ocean compared with the over 700 applications that were received. There were many more deserving cases who will probably drop out of secondary school or be forced to repeat class 8. However, the Foundation could only take those that its resources are able to cater for. The Foundation will meet with the 56 students at 9am on Wednesday 3rd February 2010 to send them off to the various national and provincial schools with their first term's fees. This event will also mark the beginning of the mentoring process and provide the Foundation the opportunity to thank all the partners who have made it possible for these 56 students to begin the journey towards the Foundation's vision: 'Realising dreams; transforming lives.'
